You have to start with a hearty Panamanian breakfast. You can just indulge because you need some energy to explore the city. The rich menu you will find at a local ‘fonda’ is affordable to say the least. You get to enjoy tamales, bollos, pork, beef, fried eggs; just choose what you want. Casa del Horno Cafe is a popular place to soothe your taste buds.

After you have fueled up with tasty breakfast, it is time to check out the Panama Canal. This modern wonder is definitely a sure destination when you have only 24 hours. You can head to a large hill called Cerro Ancon in which you can stop by the Miraflores Locks. The scenery is breathtaking and you get to enjoy it conveniently because it is located just near the heart of the city. Your next stop can be the Amador Causeway. This connects a number of islands where you can enjoy some lunch as you explore the offerings. Other things to do here include renting a bike or heading to the Smithsonian’s Punta Culebra.

In the afternoon, you can head to one of the most popular tourist destination in Panama city. This is Casco Viejo which is a historic jewel. Here, you can walk along the cobblestone streets to discover historical buildings. Some buildings have been restored while others are left as they are, to showcase the beauty of nature. The Plaza Francia is just nearby and you can discover great crafts from a host of local artisans.

As the evening sets in, it is time to head to a restaurant that appeals to you. There is really something for everyone. Some of the great places to consider include Beirut, Puerta de Tierra and Sabor de la India. The nightlife comes alive from 10pm. You will be happy to know that numerous bars and clubs will give you a time of your life. Casco Viejo is home to many joints like Tantalo, Mojito sin Mojito and Relic.
